My Noah

video
Here today's last post is Noah. He just turned a month old a couple days ago and he's only getting more and more adorable. Come visit us in Pasadena someday ;)

Matisse the Bird

video
As I walked in to Rob's classroom this morning. An awesome guest surprised me. Matisse (Hope I spelled it right.) is Rob's bird, a 15 yrs old wild bird. Matisse was eating this toast with his hand haha. At the end of this clip it's Rob saying "Are you filming?" and it's me saying, "Yeah." How can I not film this adorable beauty when he is eating a toast and fruit right in front of me Enjoy!

Allie in the front yard

video
This is what Allie does when the weather is nice and sunny outside and the grass is nice, dry, and cutshort. We were worried Allie might get jealous, etc with Noah, but it turns out Allie is the first one to respond to the baby crying and Allie doesn't go any aggressive to Noah. Anyways, I love it when Allie scratches her back against the grass like the video but Jian really hates it. Haha reason why? ask Jian. Enjoy!

The Skunk Family

video
Time to take a little break from the film madness at RCC :)
Apparently, there is a skunk family living right out the door, by the Art bldg where I currently teach. I have never seen the skunks this close in my life yes I was scared but I decided to observe a bit more and see what they do during the daytime.

6th Bi-Annual RCC Animation Showcase

Poster Designed by Crystal Franklin

So what I have been up to? I've been living the happiest moment of my entire life with Jian and my new family member, Noah. It's been already 4 weeks since Noah was born. He'll turn 1 yr, 2 yr, then like my colleague Rob was saying the next thing I'll notice he's already 13 :) Time flies.
Due to the baby, I haven't been able to do much of my personal works however my students are currently working very hard to finish their animation films to be screened at the 6th Bi-Annual RCC Animation Showcase which will be held on Wed June 6th at Riverside City College Digital Library Auditorium. So be sure to come check them out if you're free that day. It will be great if you can let me know ahead of time before coming via email will.kim@rcc.edu
Thank you as always for your time to stop by and read my post ;)

Noah Lee Kim

Hello all, yes it's been a while since the last post. And like I promised today my post is about the new born baby, my first son!! It's been 6 days since a 7 lbs baby, Noah was born. Here are some pictures from this past week. Last couple days have been my happiest and the most surreal times of my life. It's just so miraculous and magical. Jian and I are sincerely thankful for having such a healthy and charming little boy. Jian is recovering well at the moment another reason to be so thankful.

I don't know how many of you remember this but a couple of months ago, after Jian and I found out about Jian's pregnancy, I made a short animation called, 'Celebration' to celebrate Noah's birth. So here it is. I thought it will be a perfect chance to re-post this animation.

Click the image to the left to view my short animation to celebrate and welcome Noah to the world !!!

Also!!!!! A couple days before my Noah was born, I drew and painted this little butterfly for Noah. I am sure he'd love it. So here it is.

Women Surrealists at LACMA

First of all, why is this post not about a newborn baby yet? Because we're waiting after waiting after waiting, things are all packed for the hospital, the baby seat is all installed in our car, but it's just not happening yet... Jian's been having braxton hicks contractions for days and we were told we can have a baby in any day during this week but but not happening yet. I CANNOT WAIT!!!! Anyways so instead of waiting forever, Jian and I decided to kind of 'let go' and go to Los Angeles County Museum of Art to see the Women Surrealists Artists works. We have been always fascinated by their works.

In Wonderland, the Surrealist Women Artists in North America (that originated from all over the world.) It was far more than just 'amazing.' I was already familiar with some of the painters in the show however it was my first time going to an exhibition with women surrealism artists from all over the world. Their visuals are beautiful, symbolic (culturally and emotionally), expressive, and sometimes abstract.

According to the LACME's original post on their show by Pavillion, Their art was primarily about identity: portraits, double portraits, self-referential images, and masquerades that demonstrate their trials and pleasures. The exhibition includes works in a variety of media dating from 1931 to 1968, and some later examples that demonstrate Surrealism's influence on the feminist movement.
Click here to view LACMA website on this show.

Finally, here are some of my favorite paintings at the exhibition today.
In order of appearance, the artist names are as followed.
Alice Rahon, Sylvia Fein, Remedios Varo(for 2 works in a row), Frida Kahlo&Lucienne Bloch, Jacqueline Lamba, Alice Rahon, and Lilia Carrillo
